Indian athlete Gurindervir Singh scripted history after clinching the gold medal in the men’s 100m event at the Athletics Federation Cup 2026 with a record-breaking timing of 10.09 seconds.

The achievement made Gurindervir the first Indian sprinter to break the 10.10-second barrier in the event, marking a major milestone in Indian athletics.

Speaking from Jalandhar, his mother Roupinder Kaur expressed joy and pride over her son’s achievement. She said the family had been receiving congratulatory calls from relatives and well-wishers after the historic performance.

Roupinder Kaur recalled that Gurindervir had been cheerful and energetic since childhood and credited his coaches for playing an important role in shaping his athletic journey. She also said that his father had long dreamed of seeing him become a successful athlete.

In her message to young people, she urged them to listen to their parents, focus equally on academics and sports, and stay away from drug abuse.
