India Women Prepare for England Series Ahead of World Cup
India Women captain Harmanpreet Kaur believes her side has the capability to emerge victorious at the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Harmanpreet said the current Indian squad possesses the calibre to become world champions and stressed the importance of maintaining balance without succumbing to pressure or overconfidence.
“I will definitely rate this team as favourites and the team we picked today, they have the calibre to become champions. No pressure, no overconfidence. T20 cricket is only about playing good cricket,” she said.
Before the World Cup campaign begins, India women’s national cricket team will tour England for a three-match T20I series against England women’s national cricket team. The series opener is scheduled for May 28, followed by matches on May 30 and June 2.
India heads into the tournament after a disappointing 4-1 T20I series defeat against South Africa women’s national cricket team led by Laura Wolvaardt.
The Indian squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 includes key players such as Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh, Renuka Singh and Shreyanka Patil among others.
Cricket experts believe India’s blend of experienced players and emerging talent could make the team one of the strongest contenders in the tournament if they perform consistently under pressure.
