BCCI, ACB Confirm India-Afghanistan T20I Series in Delhi
Afghanistan will host India for a three-match T20 International series at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium from September 13 to 17, with the fixtures forming part of Afghanistan’s Future Tours Programme.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) have confirmed that Afghanistan will host India for a three-match T20 International series at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi from September 13 to 17, 2026. The matches are scheduled for September 13, 15 and 17.
The series is part of Afghanistan’s Future Tours Programme and will be played in India, where Afghanistan has hosted its home fixtures in recent years. Afghanistan continues to stage home matches outside the country amid security-related considerations.
BCCI President Mithun Manhas said the Indian board remains committed to supporting the development of cricket in Afghanistan and providing Afghan players opportunities to compete at the highest level.
BCCI Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia said the board was pleased to support the Afghanistan Cricket Board in hosting the T20 International series in India.
The two teams have already met in India this year, with Afghanistan touring for a Test and three-match ODI series in June. India won the ODI series 3-0.
India and Afghanistan have also developed a regular cricketing relationship across formats. India hosted Afghanistan for their first-ever Test in 2018, while the two sides played a three-match T20I series in January 2024, which India won 3-0.
The upcoming September series will provide another opportunity for both sides to compete in the shortest format ahead of the busy international cricket calendar.
