West Bengal Minister’s Liabilities Nearly Double in Five Years

Senior All India Trinamool Congress leader Firhad Hakim has reported a 69 per cent increase in his total assets over the past five years, according to his election affidavits.

Hakim, who also serves as the Mayor of Kolkata and a minister in the West Bengal government, declared assets worth ₹22.57 crore in 2026, compared with ₹13.34 crore in 2021.

His declared personal income also saw a sharper rise during the same period. Annual income, which stood at ₹65.87 lakh in the 2021 affidavit, increased to ₹1.71 crore in the latest filing, reflecting a rise of about 160 per cent in five years.

The affidavits further show that his total liabilities nearly doubled, rising from ₹83.79 lakh in 2021 to ₹1.62 crore in 2026.

Election affidavits are mandatory disclosures that provide voters with information regarding the assets, liabilities, and income of candidates contesting polls.
