Vehicle Requisition for Bengal Poll Duty
The Election Commission is expected to requisition a large number of buses, pool cars, and other vehicles for poll duty ahead of the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections on April 29, raising concerns over a possible transport shortage in Kolkata and adjoining districts.
Officials said the requisition process will begin on April 27, likely reducing the availability of public buses, school vehicles, and cabs on city roads.
Authorities stated that vehicles are being requisitioned based on polling requirements to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process. The move is part of extensive logistical preparations for the upcoming phase of voting in West Bengal.
