Political Tensions Escalate After BJP Leader’s Assistant Shot Dead
All India Trinamool Congress condemned the murder of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari’s personal assistant Chandranath Rath and demanded a court-monitored CBI investigation into the incident.
The All India Trinamool Congress on Thursday condemned the killing of Chandranath Rath, the close aide of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, who was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Madhyamgram on Wednesday night.
In an official statement, the TMC described the murder as brutal and called for the “strongest possible action” against those responsible. The party also demanded a court-monitored investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation to ensure an impartial probe and swift justice.
The party further alleged that three TMC workers had also been killed in separate incidents of post-poll violence over the past three days, claiming the attacks were carried out by “BJP-backed miscreants” despite the Model Code of Conduct remaining in force.
“We strongly condemn the brutal murder of Chandranath Rath in Madhyamgram tonight, along with the killing of three other TMC workers in incidents of post-poll violence,” the party stated.
The killing of Rath has intensified political tensions in West Bengal following the assembly election results, with both the BJP and TMC accusing each other of involvement in violence and law-and-order failures.
The incident has sparked renewed calls for stronger security measures and transparent investigations as reports of post-poll clashes continue to emerge from different parts of the state.
