PM Modi Accuses TMC of Neglecting Tea Garden Workers, Adivasis in North Bengal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleged that the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) allotted 6,000 crore rupees for Madrasas while failing to provide a budget for the development of North Bengal. Addressing a public rally at Kawakhali in Siliguri, Prime Minister stated that the region has been neglected in the tourism, connectivity, and industrial sectors, accusing the TMC of engaging in appeasement politics.

Prime Minister further alleged that the TMC has ignored the welfare of tea garden workers and the Adivasi community in North Bengal. Prime Minister assured the residents that, if voted to power in the state government, the BJP government would prioritise the construction of hospitals, medical colleges, and universities in the region. Highlighting local talent, he referred to Padma Award nominee Nagendranath Roy for his contributions to the Rajbanshi language and Siliguri resident Richa Ghosh, a prominent cricketer and member of the recent World Cup-winning Indian women’s team.

Prime Minister noted that while a one-lakh-crore-rupee fund has been allocated for the development of Adivasi communities nationwide, the TMC has failed to utilise these funds or implement piped drinking water projects in West Bengal’s tribal areas. He also assured the Matua and Namasudra communities that they would receive citizenship under the CAA once the BJP comes to power in the state.

Concluding his speech, the Prime Minister raised concerns regarding infiltration into West Bengal, alleging that the TMC is using infiltrators as a dedicated vote bank.
