Mamata Alleges Voter Intimidation and Defends Public Rights
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday alleged attempts to intimidate Trinamool Congress booth agents ahead of elections, claiming that instructions had been issued to target party workers and prevent them from participating at polling booths.
Addressing a rally in Paschim Medinipur, she accused authorities of voter suppression and questioned the deletion of voter names, saying such actions reflected fear of the people’s mandate.
Banerjee also asserted that peace must be maintained during polling, stating that both state police and central forces should focus on protecting public order without interference.
At the same event, she reiterated her government’s welfare commitments, promising continued implementation of schemes such as household drinking water supply, Lakshmir Bhandar benefits, and financial assistance under Yuva Sathi until beneficiaries secure employment.
