Fate of Candidates to Be Decided as Counting Begins Tomorrow

Massive security and logistics in place as fate of thousands of candidates to be decided

The Election Commission of India is set to begin counting of votes tomorrow morning for Assembly elections held in West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam, and the Union Territory of Puducherry.

In Assam, counting for all 126 constituencies will take place at 40 centres across 35 districts under tight security. The outcome will determine the fate of 722 candidates, including 59 women, following a high voter turnout of 85.96%.

West Bengal will see counting conducted at 77 centres with multi-layered security arrangements to ensure transparency.

In Tamil Nadu, over 10,500 counting personnel and 4,624 micro-observers have been deployed. Additionally, 234 counting observers—one per constituency—will oversee the process.

Authorities in Puducherry have also established robust security and monitoring systems, with Chief Electoral Officer P Jawahar assuring a transparent process under Election Commission supervision.

Similarly, Kerala has completed all preparations for the counting process.

With elaborate arrangements in place across all regions, the counting day is expected to be conducted smoothly, determining the political future of these states and the Union Territory.
