Security Agencies Conduct Early Morning Raids in Jammu and Kashmir
The National Investigation Agency on Monday carried out raids at two locations in Shopian, including the premises of Darul Uloom Sirajul Uloom, which was declared an illegal entity last month.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday conducted searches at two locations in Shopian as part of an ongoing investigation linked to banned organisations and alleged unlawful activities.
According to officials, NIA teams carried out searches during the early hours at Darul Uloom Sirajul Uloom in the Imam Sahib area of Shopian district. The institution, which provides both religious and formal education to hundreds of students, was declared an illegal entity last month.
Officials also said another NIA team searched the residence of Shahzada Aurangzeb at Molu Chitragam in Shopian. Aurangzeb is associated with the banned Jamaat-e-Islami.
The searches were part of efforts by investigative agencies to examine alleged links, activities and networks associated with organisations banned under anti-terror and unlawful activities laws.
Security operations and investigations in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified in recent years as agencies continue monitoring suspected extremist networks, funding channels and activities considered a threat to national security.
Officials have not yet disclosed details regarding any recoveries or detentions made during the searches.
