“A total of 12 people have been rescued. Two are critically injured. It doesn’t look like anyone else is trapped but the search operation is still ongoing,” the officer said.

Investigation Ordered

Police have indicated that a case will be registered in connection with the collapse. Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the incident, including whether structural deficiencies, unauthorized construction, or maintenance lapses contributed to the building’s failure.

Officials from civic and disaster management agencies are also likely to conduct a detailed structural assessment of the site.

The incident has once again raised concerns about building safety standards and compliance in densely populated urban areas of the national capital.
