The West Bengal government on Friday conducted a comprehensive review of the jute industry and announced a series of measures aimed at improving the availability of raw jute, increasing transparency in the market and ensuring a steady supply of the commodity to jute mills across the state.

The decisions were taken during a meeting convened at the initiative of Labour Minister Arjun Singh and chaired by the Labour Department Secretary. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Jute Commissioner and other senior officials involved with the sector.

According to an official statement, the discussions focused on key issues affecting the industry, including the availability and pricing of raw jute, improving transparency in the raw jute market, and implementing measures to ensure uninterrupted supply of raw material to jute mills.
