TMC Leader Jahangir Khan’s Close Aide Held in South 24 Parganas

West Bengal Police has arrested Israfil Chakdar, a close aide of TMC leader Jahangir Khan, in connection with multiple criminal allegations in South 24 Parganas district.

According to police officials, Chakdar was arrested from Hasimnagar under the Falta police station area on Wednesday night following an investigation into several complaints lodged against him.

A senior police officer stated that the accused faced allegations related to extortion, threatening local residents, intimidation, and assault. Authorities said the arrest was made based on evidence gathered during the investigation process.

Israfil Chakdar is reportedly the chief of the Bagnanagar-II gram panchayat and is considered politically influential in the region. The arrest has drawn attention amid increasing political scrutiny and law enforcement actions involving local political figures in West Bengal.
