Nation Remembers Rabindranath Tagore as Amit Shah Offers Tribute

Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to Poet Laureate Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore on his death anniversary, remembering his immense contribution to India’s cultural, literary and national heritage. In a social media post, Mr. Shah said that Tagore gave voice to the soul of India and inspired a new sense of national consciousness through his writings during the country’s freedom movement.

The Home Minister highlighted that Tagore’s immortal composition, “Jana Gana Mana,” which later became India’s National Anthem, continues to symbolize the nation’s unity, collective consciousness and self-respect. He noted that the poet’s literary and philosophical works have left an enduring impact on generations of Indians.

Mr. Shah also praised Tagore’s contribution to education and Indian culture through the establishment of Visva-Bharati University, which helped showcase India’s rich philosophical and cultural traditions on the global stage. He added that Gurudev’s timeless literary works remain an everlasting source of inspiration for millions of people across the country.
