Calcutta High Court Vacates Relief Granted to TMC Leader Jahangir Khan
The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday vacated interim protection earlier granted to Jahangir Khan, against whom multiple FIRs have been registered in South 24 Parganas district.
The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday vacated an interim protection earlier granted to Jahangir Khan in connection with multiple criminal cases registered against him.
According to police officials, seven FIRs have been lodged against Khan at the Falta Police Station in South 24 Parganas district.
Justice Partha Sarathi Sen observed during the hearing that granting protection solely on the basis of a changed political scenario in the state or allegations of political vendetta would not be justified.
The court’s order effectively removes the temporary legal relief previously available to the Trinamool Congress leader, allowing investigative proceedings in the registered cases to continue in accordance with law.
The matter comes amid heightened political and legal confrontations in West Bengal, where allegations of politically motivated cases and administrative actions have frequently surfaced between rival political groups.
