Severe Flooding Continues in Assam, Impacting 15 Districts

The flood situation in Assam remained critical on Thursday, with two additional deaths reported during the past 24 hours, taking the state’s flood-related death toll this year to 97. The latest fatalities were reported from Golaghat and Udalguri districts, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).

The ASDMA’s daily flood bulletin stated that more than 1.68 lakh people are currently affected by flooding across 15 districts. The worst-hit districts include Golaghat, Sivasagar, Udalguri, Kamrup Metropolitan, Nagaon, Kamrup, Darrang, Sonitpur, Hojai, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Jorhat, Charaideo, Karbi Anglong, and Dhemaji.

Authorities continue to monitor the flood situation while relief and rescue operations remain underway in the affected areas. Officials are working to provide assistance to displaced families and ensure the safety of residents as water levels and weather conditions continue to be closely observed.
