The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday said that the southwest monsoon is expected to advance into parts of Jharkhand within the next two to three days, bringing relief from the prevailing summer heat.

In its latest weather bulletin, the IMD stated:

“The conditions are favourable for advancement of southwest monsoon into some parts of Jharkhand within the next two to three days.”

Pre-Monsoon Activity Intensifies

Ahead of the anticipated onset of the monsoon, several regions in the state experienced pre-monsoon rainfall accompanied by strong winds on Thursday afternoon.

The northeastern and central parts of Jharkhand, including the state capital Ranchi, witnessed sudden showers and gusty conditions, indicating increasing monsoon activity over the region.

The rainfall brought a noticeable dip in temperatures and provided respite to residents who had been enduring hot and humid weather conditions.

Weather Advisory

The IMD has advised residents to remain alert for changing weather conditions, particularly during thunderstorms and periods of gusty winds that often accompany the monsoon’s advance.

People have been urged to:

  • Avoid sheltering under trees during lightning activity,
  • Secure loose objects vulnerable to strong winds,
  • Exercise caution while travelling during heavy showers, and
  • Follow updates issued by local authorities and the IMD.

Monsoon Progress Across India

The southwest monsoon has been steadily advancing across various parts of the country, bringing widespread rainfall to several regions. The expected arrival in Jharkhand marks another important stage in its northward progression.

Meteorologists will continue to monitor atmospheric conditions and issue updates regarding the exact timing and extent of the monsoon’s advance into the state.

For millions of residents and farmers in Jharkhand, the approaching monsoon signals the beginning of a season vital to both livelihoods and daily life.
