Heavy Rain Warning: Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha Under IMD Red Alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha for Monday, August 18, amid heightened monsoon activity across several parts of the country.

The weather department has also forecast similar heavy rainfall conditions over Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Uttarakhand during the next two days.

For August 18, the IMD has forecast heavy rainfall over Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi.

The weather system is likely to keep monsoon conditions active across several states, with heavy rainfall potentially affecting normal life, transportation and local infrastructure in vulnerable areas.

The IMD has advised people in affected regions to remain alert and follow updates issued by local authorities as rainfall activity intensifies.
