Veteran Indian playback singer Suman Kalyanpur passed away on Sunday evening at the age of 89 due to age-related ailments. According to family associates, she breathed her last peacefully at her residence in Mumbai’s Lokhandwala area.
A revered name in Indian film music, Kalyanpur was known for her soft, expressive voice and her ability to bring emotion and grace to every song she performed. During a career spanning several decades, she delivered numerous memorable songs that became an integral part of Hindi cinema’s golden era.

Author and close friend Mangala Khadilkar, who penned the Marathi biography Suman Sugandh, said the singer spent her final days listening to her own songs.
