The mortal remains of renowned filmmaker Anik Dutta were brought to the iconic Nandan on Friday, where members of the Bengali film fraternity, political leaders, and admirers assembled to pay their final respects.

Dutta’s flower-decked body was placed in a hearse at the cultural complex, allowing colleagues, friends, and members of the public to offer tributes to the filmmaker, whose work left a significant mark on contemporary Bengali cinema.

His daughter, Rai, accompanied the funeral procession as mourners gathered to bid farewell to the director.

Several prominent personalities from the film industry and public life were present at Nandan, including Srijit Mukherji, Anjan Dutt, Bidipta Chakraborty, Rudranil Ghosh, Papiya Adhikari, Locket Chatterjee, and veteran Left leader Biman Bose.

Anik Dutta was widely respected for his distinctive storytelling style and contributions to Bengali cinema. Over the years, he earned recognition for films that blended social commentary, satire, and historical narratives, making him one of the notable voices in regional filmmaking.

The gathering at Nandan reflected the filmmaker’s influence on Bengal’s cultural landscape, with colleagues and admirers remembering his creativity, cinematic vision, and lasting contribution to the industry.
