Tech Giant Planning Massive Layoffs
Meta is planning sweeping layoffs up to 20 percent of its employees. The decision, which could affect thousands of employees globally, has drawn widespread attention in the tech world. The company’s top management is reportedly considering the matter.
If the layoffs happen, it would be the largest in the company’s history. Meta had about 79,000 employees at the end of 2025. It is estimated that a 20 percent reduction could result in more than 15,000 job losses.
The main reason for this decision is the high investment in artificial intelligence technology. Led by company chairman Mark Zuckerberg, Meta plans to invest billions of dollars in AI data centers and new technology development. This is also the idea that it can operate with fewer employees instead of large teams.

No date has been set for the cuts and the magnitude has not been finalized, the people said.
