Tata Power Eyes Expansion Into India’s Nuclear Energy Sector

Tata Power is currently in discussions with three states regarding proposed nuclear power projects and expects to complete detailed project reports within the next six months, according to the company’s CEO and Managing Director Praveer Sinha.

Speaking during a post-earnings call on Tuesday, Sinha said the company is presently conducting feasibility studies and preparing detailed project reports (DPRs) for its nuclear energy plans.

He added that Tata Power is also engaging with Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) as part of the planning and approval process for the projects.

According to the company, the DPRs are expected to be finalised within six months, after which the projects will move through various regulatory and government approval stages.

The development signals Tata Power’s growing interest in expanding into the nuclear energy segment as India continues to focus on clean and low-carbon energy sources to meet rising electricity demand.

India has been pushing for greater diversification of its energy mix, with nuclear power viewed as a key component in achieving long-term energy security and climate goals.
