Entry-Level Car Buyers Get Relief as Maruti Freezes Prices Temporarily

India’s leading automobile manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, on Tuesday announced a price protection scheme for its entry-level vehicle portfolio, offering relief to customers planning to purchase small cars.

The initiative covers four popular models from the company’s lineup — the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, Maruti Suzuki Celerio, and Maruti Suzuki WagonR.

Under the scheme, customers who book any of these vehicles on or before June 14, 2026, will continue to enjoy the existing prices, despite the company’s previously announced decision to increase prices across its range from this month.

In May, Maruti Suzuki had announced a price hike of up to ₹30,000 across various models, citing rising input costs and operational pressures. However, following feedback from its dealer network, the automaker decided to provide a temporary cushion to entry-level customers.

Explaining the rationale behind the move, Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales) at Maruti Suzuki India, said the company wanted to support aspiring car buyers who are often highly sensitive to price changes.

“On the feedback of our channel partners, we have announced a price protection scheme for entry customers. Their plea was simple: the customer who is stepping forward with courage to buy a car should not be pushed back by a price hike. So, we are considering a price protection window for small car buyers. If you book, we give you a cushion,” Banerjee said.

The announcement comes at a time when the small car segment has been witnessing subdued demand due to inflationary pressures and changing consumer preferences. Industry observers believe the price protection initiative could help boost sales momentum among first-time buyers and budget-conscious consumers.

Entry-level models have traditionally formed the backbone of Maruti Suzuki’s sales volumes, and the latest move underscores the company’s focus on maintaining affordability in a highly competitive market.

Customers interested in availing of the scheme will need to complete their bookings within the stipulated period to secure protection from the revised prices.
