Kerala Police Targets Digital Literacy and Cyber Awareness in Schools
Students across Kerala will take a cyber safety pledge on the first day of the new academic year as part of a statewide initiative to promote responsible internet usage and protect children from online threats.
Students across Kerala will participate in a cyber safety pledge on June 1, coinciding with the reopening of schools after the summer vacation, as part of a statewide campaign to promote safe and responsible online behaviour.
The initiative is being implemented under the Kid Glove Project, a programme launched by the cyber wing of the Kerala Police to help children navigate the digital world securely.
According to a statement issued by the state police headquarters, the campaign aims to educate students about various online risks and encourage safe internet practices from an early age.

Objectives of the Campaign
The programme seeks to raise awareness about:
- Cyberbullying and online harassment
- Digital fraud and scams
- Privacy and data protection
- Safe social media usage
- Responsible online communication
- Identifying harmful online content
Cyber Safety Pledge
As part of the initiative, students will collectively take a pledge committing themselves to:
- Using the internet responsibly
- Protecting personal information online
- Reporting suspicious digital activities
- Respecting others in online spaces
- Following safe browsing practices
Focus on Early Awareness
Officials said the programme is designed to equip children with the knowledge and skills needed to safely engage with digital platforms, which have become an integral part of education and daily life.
The campaign reflects growing concerns about cybercrime, online exploitation, misinformation, and excessive digital exposure among young users.
By introducing cyber safety awareness at the school level, Kerala Police aims to foster a culture of responsible digital citizenship and strengthen children’s resilience against emerging online threats.
