Complaint Against Kalyan Banerjee Deepens Internal Unease in TMC
Trinamool Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla alleging verbal abuse and misogynistic behaviour by party colleague Kalyan Banerjee, further exposing growing internal tensions within the TMC after its recent electoral setback.
Fresh tensions have surfaced within the All India Trinamool Congress after party MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar lodged a complaint with Om Birla against fellow party leader Kalyan Banerjee.
In her letter to the Speaker, Ghosh Dastidar accused Banerjee of verbally abusing her inside Parliament and displaying misogynistic behaviour towards women parliamentarians. She reportedly sought permission to formally register the complaint and demanded appropriate action against the senior party colleague.

The development comes at a time when internal divisions within the TMC have become increasingly visible following the party’s recent assembly election setback. Political observers note that public disagreements and internal dissatisfaction among leaders are now surfacing more openly.
Sources indicate that tensions between Ghosh Dastidar and Kalyan Banerjee had intensified in recent weeks, particularly after organisational changes within the party’s parliamentary structure. Earlier, Ghosh Dastidar had also expressed disappointment over internal functioning and leadership decisions.

The latest complaint is likely to intensify political discussion around internal discipline and leadership management within the TMC, especially as the party attempts to regroup after electoral challenges.

Neither Kalyan Banerjee nor the party leadership has issued a detailed public response regarding the allegations so far. The matter is expected to attract attention in Parliament as well as within political circles in West Bengal.
