An analysis conducted by the district administration in Ranchi has found that 92 out of 129 private schools violated prescribed fee hike norms over the past three academic years, a senior official said on Saturday.

According to officials, the investigation reviewed fee structures and annual increases implemented by private educational institutions in the district. The findings reportedly revealed that a large number of schools had raised fees beyond the permitted limits.

The administration has now directed the schools concerned to readjust the excess fee amounts during the 2026–27 academic session to ensure compliance with regulations.

Authorities stated that the move was aimed at protecting parents from arbitrary financial burdens and ensuring transparency in school fee structures.

The issue of rising school fees has been a major concern among parents in Ranchi, with repeated complaints alleging steep annual hikes and additional charges imposed by private institutions.

Officials indicated that further monitoring and scrutiny of fee-related practices would continue to ensure adherence to government guidelines and education department norms.

The administration may also initiate additional action against institutions found repeatedly violating regulations, though detailed measures have not yet been announced.

The development has drawn attention from parent groups and education activists, many of whom have welcomed the administration’s intervention in the matter.
