The Election Commission of India on Tuesday issued a formal notification for the constitution of a new legislative assembly in West Bengal, signaling the completion of the electoral process in the state.

The notification has been forwarded to the Governor, marking a crucial constitutional step that formally concludes the election cycle and initiates the process of forming a new government.

According to a senior official from the Commission, the issuance of this notification is a mandatory post-election procedure following the declaration of results. “With this, the process of constituting the new assembly in West Bengal is complete from the Commission’s end. It enables the next steps in government formation as per laid-down procedures,” the official stated.

The Commission also reiterated that the entire election process—from polling to counting—was conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner, adhering strictly to established legal and procedural norms.

With the notification now in place, the stage is set for the swearing-in of newly elected representatives and the formation of the next government in the state.
