The Mumbai-bound carriageway of the Mumbai–Pune Expressway’s much-awaited “missing link” was opened to vehicular traffic on Saturday afternoon, following a brief delay due to dismantling of inauguration structures and cleanup work.

The 13.3 km-long stretch bypasses the challenging Bhor Ghat section, significantly improving connectivity and reducing travel time between Mumbai and Pune by approximately 25 to 30 minutes.

The project was inaugurated a day earlier by Devendra Fadnavis in the presence of Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar.

While the Pune-bound carriageway was opened immediately after the inauguration, the Mumbai-bound lane remained temporarily closed before being made operational on Saturday.

The new link is expected to enhance safety, ease traffic congestion, and provide a smoother travel experience along one of India’s busiest expressways.
