Woman Drowns While Rescuing Son in Karnataka, Search On for Boy

In a tragic incident in Karnataka, a woman who jumped into the Hiranyakeshi River to save her son drowned, while search operations continued on Wednesday to trace the missing boy.

Police identified the deceased as Laxmi Sudhakar Kutoli (27), a resident of Hanuman Nagar in Sankeshwar.

According to Belagavi Police, the incident took place on the outskirts of Sankeshwar when her son, Supreet, had gone swimming in the river and reportedly moved into deeper waters, leading to drowning fears.

In an attempt to rescue him, the mother jumped into the river but was swept away by the current. Her body was recovered on Tuesday night.

Officials said the boy’s body had not been found till Wednesday afternoon, and rescue teams continue search operations in the area. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
