Vice President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan is set to arrive in Colombo today on a two-day official visit to Sri Lanka. The trip marks the first-ever bilateral visit by an Indian Vice President to the neighbouring country.

During the visit, Radhakrishnan is scheduled to meet Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, along with other senior leaders.

He will also interact with leaders of the Indian-origin Tamil community and Tamil representatives from Sri Lanka’s Northern and Eastern regions.

In Colombo, the Vice President will address the Indian diaspora and virtually hand over homes built under India’s housing assistance programme, taking the total number delivered to 50,000. On the second day, he will travel to Nuwara Eliya to visit project sites and engage with local communities.

The visit is expected to further strengthen longstanding cultural ties and people-to-people relations between India and Sri Lanka.
