Odisha to See Heavy Rain Till August 17 Under New Weather System
The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall across Odisha until August 17 as a fresh low-pressure area has formed over the North Bay of Bengal off the West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts.
BHUBANESWAR: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday forecast heavy rainfall across Odisha till August 17 under the influence of a fresh low-pressure area that has formed over the Bay of Bengal.
According to the IMD’s morning bulletin, the weather system is likely to become more marked and move northwestwards during the next 48 hours, potentially bringing further rainfall to Odisha.
The weather system developed under the influence of an upper-air cyclonic circulation over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas. The IMD said the low-pressure area formed over the North Bay of Bengal off the West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts at 5:30 am on Wednesday.

The development comes as Odisha continues to experience active monsoon conditions, with authorities monitoring rainfall and weather systems that could potentially affect vulnerable areas.
