Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that his visit to Sweden marked several important milestones that would give new momentum to India-Sweden relations.

In a social media post, Modi said the discussions with Swedish leaders were highly productive and covered a wide range of strategic and economic areas.

Among the major outcomes of the visit were the elevation of bilateral ties to a strategic partnership, the launch of the Joint Innovation Partnership 2.0, and the creation of the India-Sweden Technology and Artificial Intelligence Corridor.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the ambitious target set by both countries to double bilateral trade within the next five years.

Modi thanked the people and government of Sweden, as well as Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, for their warmth and friendship during the visit.

According to officials accompanying the Prime Minister, the strategic partnership framework will be guided by the India-Sweden Joint Action Plan (2026–2030).

The roadmap aims to deepen cooperation under the “Make in India” and “Made with Sweden” initiatives, with special focus on sectors such as green hydrogen, semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, innovation, and clean technologies.

Officials said the agreement is expected to strengthen industrial collaboration, technology exchange, startup ecosystems, and resilient supply chains between the two countries.

One of the major highlights of the visit was the conferment of the Royal Order of the Polar Star upon Prime Minister Modi.

The honour is Sweden’s highest recognition for foreign heads of government and was described as a symbol of the strengthening democratic, cultural, and civilisational ties between the two nations.
