The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has assured citizens that the supply of crude oil, LPG, and natural gas remains stable across the country despite the ongoing situation in West Asia.

Addressing an inter-ministerial briefing in New Delhi, Additional Secretary Praveen Khanuja said that sufficient stocks of petrol, diesel, and LPG are available nationwide. He emphasized that the government has implemented multiple measures to ensure uninterrupted fuel supplies and maintain the country’s energy security.

Khanuja revealed that domestic refineries and gas-processing facilities recorded production of around 53,000 metric tonnes on Sunday, which is approximately 60 per cent higher than pre-crisis levels. He stated that fuel inventories remain comfortable and there is no immediate concern regarding the availability of petroleum products in the country.

The briefing also addressed the status of fertiliser supplies ahead of the ongoing agricultural season. Aparna Sharma said that the overall fertiliser stock position across India remains satisfactory.

According to Sharma, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has reassessed the fertiliser requirement for the current Kharif season at more than 380 lakh metric tonnes. She noted that farmers have already purchased approximately 86 lakh metric tonnes, accounting for over 23 per cent of the projected seasonal demand.

Officials stated that there are currently no significant challenges regarding fertiliser availability and that adequate supplies are being maintained to support agricultural activities across the country.

The government’s reassurance comes amid heightened concerns over global energy markets following geopolitical tensions in West Asia, which have led to volatility in crude oil prices and raised questions about supply chain stability. Authorities stressed that India remains well-prepared to manage potential disruptions through strategic planning, increased domestic production, and continuous monitoring of stock levels.
