Clean Technology and Blue Economy in Focus During Norway Talks
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Oslo during his first-ever visit to Norway.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Oslo on Monday as part of his ongoing multi-nation foreign tour.
Modi received a warm welcome from members of the Indian diaspora upon his arrival in Oslo for his first-ever visit to Norway.
Officials noted that this is also the first prime ministerial visit from India to Norway in 43 years.
The visit includes bilateral engagements between India and Norway, along with participation in the 3rd India-Nordic Summit.
According to officials, the visit is expected to strengthen India’s relations with Nordic nations and deepen cooperation in key sectors.
During the visit, Prime Minister Modi is also scheduled to call on Harald V and Queen Sonja.
He will additionally address the India-Norway Business and Research Summit, where discussions are expected to focus on clean and green technologies, the blue economy, innovation, trade, and investment opportunities.
Tomorrow, Modi will attend the 3rd India-Nordic Summit, where leaders are expected to discuss economic cooperation, strategic partnerships, and regional collaboration.
Officials said the recently implemented Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement is expected to further boost economic ties between India and Nordic member countries.
Current bilateral trade between India and the five Nordic countries stands at approximately 19 billion US dollars.
The areas of cooperation under discussion include innovation, defence, Arctic affairs, sustainable technologies, and people-to-people exchanges.
The visit is expected to provide fresh momentum to India’s engagement with Nordic nations and strengthen strategic and economic cooperation across multiple sectors.
