Probe Ordered Into Uttarakhand Helicopter Emergency Landing Incident

The Police Office in Tehri Garhwal informed that a helicopter operated by Trans Bharat Aviation was forced to make a safe emergency landing on Tuesday morning after developing a technical issue during flight.

According to officials, the helicopter landed safely in agricultural fields in the Satyo-Sakalana area after the issue was detected while it was flying over the Chamba-Arakot region.

A total of six people, including the pilot, were on board the helicopter at the time of the incident. Authorities confirmed that all passengers and crew members are safe.

Police stated that the helicopter was travelling from Badrinath Dham to Dehradun when the technical problem occurred.

During the flight, the rear section of the helicopter was reportedly damaged after it came into contact with a high-tension power line. Preliminary findings suggest that the pilot managed to execute a controlled emergency landing despite the damage.

Local authorities and emergency teams reached the site soon after the incident to secure the area and assist passengers.

Officials said a detailed investigation into the incident has been initiated and technical as well as aviation agencies will examine the exact cause of the malfunction and circumstances surrounding the contact with the power line.

The incident has once again highlighted the operational challenges faced by helicopter services operating in hilly terrains and difficult weather conditions in Uttarakhand, especially on pilgrimage and mountain routes.
