Air India Announces Temporary Cut in Global Flight Services
Overseas Services on Several Key Routes to Remain Suspended From June to August
Air India has announced a temporary reduction in its international flight operations, suspending services on several overseas routes due to airspace restrictions and rising jet fuel prices.
According to the airline, the rationalisation of international services will remain in effect from June to August this year as the company adjusts operations in response to operational and cost pressures.
Among the routes that will be temporarily suspended are Delhi–Chicago, Mumbai–New York, Delhi–Shanghai, and Chennai–Singapore, along with two additional international sectors.
The airline stated that the decision was taken amid continuing airspace curbs affecting flight paths and the sharp rise in aviation fuel costs linked to global geopolitical tensions and energy market volatility.
Airlines worldwide have been facing increased operational challenges due to longer flight durations caused by restricted air corridors and elevated fuel expenses, both of which significantly impact profitability and scheduling efficiency.
Passengers affected by the temporary suspension are expected to be offered alternative travel arrangements, rescheduling options, or refunds in line with airline policies.
The move reflects broader pressures currently being experienced by the aviation industry as carriers attempt to balance operational sustainability with fluctuating global travel demand.
