The Government of Chhattisgarh has issued a fresh set of guidelines to ensure austerity in public expenditure and strengthen financial discipline across government departments.

Officials said the directives have come into immediate effect and will remain applicable until September 30, 2026. The measures are intended to promote efficient management of state finances and reduce unnecessary government spending.

Under the new guidelines, only essential vehicles will be permitted in the motorcades of the Chief Minister, ministers, and other senior officials. The state government has also announced plans to gradually replace conventional government vehicles with electric vehicles as part of a phased transition.

To further reduce fuel and transportation costs, departments have been instructed to promote vehicle pooling wherever possible.

The government has additionally imposed a complete ban on foreign travel by government employees during the implementation period of the austerity measures.

Officials said virtual meetings will be prioritised over physical gatherings to minimise travel-related expenses and improve administrative efficiency.
