Fuel Shortage Threatens Telecom Services – Echoes of Past Disruptions!

Due to the ongoing war in the Middle East, there has been a problem with the fuel imported to India from the Gulf countries. As a result, there has been a shortage of cooking gas cylinders across the country for the past few days. Due to this, the supply of cylinders for commercial use such as hotels and shops has been stopped, and priority is being given to domestic use and essential needs.

In this situation, it has been reported that cylinder supply to telecommunication infrastructure companies has been stopped since March 5th. This is said to have caused delays in the manufacture and installation of new telecommunication towers. The companies have warned that if this situation continues, there is a risk of a gradual decrease in tower construction work.

Gas is essential for heating metals and applying protective coatings to prevent rust in the manufacture of telecommunication towers. The Digital Infrastructure Providers Association has written to the Union Ministry of Telecommunications, requesting it to take steps to ensure smooth supply of gas and diesel to tower manufacturing companies.
