Indian Golf Star Gaganjeet Bhullar Stays in Contention in Morocco
Indian golfing star Gaganjeet Bhullar endured a mixed opening round at the International Series Morocco, dazzling with a flurry of birdies before surrendering momentum with late bogeys. Despite the contrasting halves, the Asian Tour veteran remained well within striking distance of the leaders.
Indian golfer Gaganjeet Bhullar experienced a round of two contrasting halves as he carded a three-under 70 in the opening round of the USD 2 million International Series Morocco presented by Visit Morocco.
Bhullar appeared poised for an exceptional start after producing a brilliant stretch of golf during the front nine. Displaying precision and confidence, he reeled off four birdies within five holes in the latter stages of the outward half to turn in an impressive four-under 32.
The momentum, however, proved difficult to sustain on the back nine. The seasoned Indian golfer encountered setbacks as he dropped shots through three bogeys, resulting in a two-over 38 on the inward journey and ultimately settling for an opening-round score of 70.
Despite the late slip, Bhullar remained in a competitive position, finishing the day tied for 18th place, with ample opportunity to climb the leaderboard in the subsequent rounds of the tournament.
Bhullar is one of India’s most decorated golfers and continues to be a prominent figure on the international circuit. A four-time Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) winner, he also holds the distinction of being the most successful Indian golfer in Asian Tour history, having secured 11 Asian Tour titles during his illustrious career.
The experienced campaigner will now look to build on the positives from his opening round while improving consistency on the back nine as he targets another strong finish on the international stage.
With the tournament still in its early stages, Bhullar remains firmly in contention and will be eager to convert his flashes of brilliance into a sustained title challenge in Morocco.
