The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday accused the All India Trinamool Congress of attempting to incite post-poll violence in West Bengal by allegedly using party workers disguised as BJP supporters.

Addressing reporters, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra claimed that his party has never engaged in violence after securing electoral victories in states where it forms the government.

Patra alleged that Trinamool Congress cadres were carrying BJP flags and wearing saffron party scarves while trying to create unrest and incidents of arson in different parts of the state following the declaration of assembly election results.

“We are seeing reports that TMC workers, in several places, are wearing BJP scarves and carrying BJP flags while trying to disturb the atmosphere,” he said during the press briefing.

The BJP leader also warned that those involved in acts of violence would face the “full force of law.” He maintained that attempts were being made to malign the image of the saffron party through orchestrated disturbances.

The allegations come amid heightened political tensions and reports of clashes and unrest in parts of West Bengal after the conclusion of the assembly elections. Political confrontations between the BJP and TMC have frequently intensified during and after election periods in the state.
