TMC Moves Supreme Court Against HC Order on Poll Supervisors
Special bench to examine challenge against Calcutta HC order on deployment of central staff
The Supreme Court of India has constituted a special bench to hear a plea filed by the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) challenging a recent order of the Calcutta High Court.
The matter will be taken up on May 2 at 10:30 AM by a bench comprising Justice PS Narasimha and Justice Joymalya Bagchi.

The TMC has contested the High Court’s decision that upheld the deployment of only Central government and Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) employees as supervisors during vote counting in the West Bengal Assembly elections.
In its plea, the party urged the apex court to hear the matter urgently, arguing that vote counting is scheduled to begin on Monday morning and any delay would render the petition ineffective.
The outcome of the hearing is expected to have significant implications for the conduct of counting procedures and election oversight in the state.
