State Pays Tribute to Former Chief Minister Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri

The Government of Uttarakhand has declared a three-day state mourning period following the death of former Chief Minister Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri.

Acting on the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the state government issued orders stating that the National Flag will fly at half-mast at all government offices across Uttarakhand from May 19 to May 21 as a mark of respect to the late leader.

The government also announced that no official entertainment programmes will be organised during the mourning period.

Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri, a senior political leader and former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, passed away in Dehradun on Monday. His death prompted tributes from political leaders, officials, and supporters across the state and the country.

Officials confirmed that the last rites of the former chief minister will be performed on May 20 with full police honours.

Khanduri was regarded as a prominent political figure in Uttarakhand and was known for his contributions to governance, public administration, and infrastructure development in the hill state. His political career also included service at the national level.

The announcement of state mourning reflects the significance of his contribution to public life and the respect he commanded across political circles.

Security and administrative arrangements are being made in Dehradun for the funeral ceremony, where political leaders, government officials, and members of the public are expected to pay their final respects.
