Security Forces Step Up Readiness for Bengal Assembly Elections

Director General of Central Industrial Security Force Praveer Ranjan reviewed election preparedness in Jalpaiguri and Islampur on April 18 ahead of the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026.

He was accompanied by Additional Director General Sudhir Kumar and Inspector General Shikhar Sahai during the assessment.

Addressing officers and personnel, the DG briefed troops on pre-poll, polling day, and post-poll duties, stressing vigilance, neutrality, area domination, and prevention of voter inducement and intimidation. He also underlined the importance of ensuring the safety of polling personnel and Electronic Voting Machines.

More than 1,000 personnel, including battalion commanders, supervisory officers, and company commanders, attended the review physically and virtually. The CISF chief also reviewed preparedness with CAPF and district officials, providing strategic guidance for peaceful and secure polling.
