Saudi Arabia has reportedly suspended military access for the United States to its bases and airspace, a move that has significantly affected Washington’s strategic operations in the Gulf region.

According to reports citing US officials, the development forced President Donald Trump to abandon plans related to escort operations through the Strait of Hormuz under an initiative reportedly referred to as “Project Freedom.”

The reported restriction marks a major shift in Gulf dynamics, with one of Washington’s closest regional allies effectively blocking a planned military operation amid rising regional tensions.

Following the setback, Trump indicated a renewed focus on diplomacy, describing recent discussions with Iran as “very good” and suggesting that a permanent agreement remains possible.

Iran is currently reviewing a reported 14-point proposal from the US aimed at ending hostilities and opening a 30-day negotiation window for broader talks.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has publicly called for dialogue and diplomacy, although Iranian authorities have not officially confirmed acceptance of any proposed framework.

At the same time, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf dismissed some circulating media reports regarding the negotiations as false.

Despite diplomatic activity, violence across West Asia continues. Israel carried out airstrikes in Beirut’s southern suburbs, marking the first such strike on the Lebanese capital since a US-brokered ceasefire came into effect in April.

Additional Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon reportedly targeted areas including Harouf and Ad-Doueir, resulting in casualties and infrastructure damage.

The Israeli military has stated that the operations are aimed at Hezbollah infrastructure and fighters, while Hezbollah has accused Israel of continued aggression.

In Gaza Strip, Israeli strikes have also continued, with Hamas condemning the attacks and accusing Israel of escalating military operations.

Diplomatic mediators remain engaged in efforts to prevent further escalation as Washington and Tehran continue weighing the risks of prolonged conflict against the possibility of a negotiated settlement.
