Speaking in Jaunpur, Abdul Majid Hakeem Ilahi said the situation in Iran remains stable and expressed confidence that the country would emerge victorious amid ongoing regional tensions.

“The situation in Iran is very good. Iranians are looking forward to victory,” he said, adding that Iran had so far acted in self-defence.

Commenting on recent remarks by US President Donald Trump, Ilahi alleged that the United States was not genuinely interested in reaching an agreement with Iran.

According to him, the US seeks conditions that Iran cannot accept, while Iran’s objective is to secure “justice and freedom.” He also accused the US of pursuing strategic and economic interests, including influence over global oil prices.

Questioning American involvement in the region, Ilahi asked why the US had “come from over 7,000 miles away and attacked Iran,” while also alleging that thousands of innocent people had been killed during the conflict.

Addressing concerns regarding Iran’s nuclear programme, he reiterated that Iran does not seek nuclear weapons and stated that such weapons are not part of the country’s military doctrine.

He further referred to a religious decree issued by Iran’s Supreme Leader declaring nuclear weapons forbidden under Islamic principles.

The remarks come amid continuing tensions in West Asia and ongoing diplomatic discussions involving Iran, the United States and regional stakeholders over security, sanctions and nuclear-related concerns.
