BJP Seeks EC Action Over Kharge’s ‘Terrorist’ Remark Against PM Modi
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday urged the Election Commission of India to take immediate cognisance of a “terrorist” remark allegedly made by Mallikarjun Kharge against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a memorandum submitted to the poll panel, the BJP demanded that Kharge be directed to issue a public apology. The party also sought suitable penal and regulatory proceedings under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and requested appropriate campaign restrictions against him.
The BJP said a delegation comprising Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, Kiren Rijiju, and Arjun Ram Meghwal will meet the Election Commission on Wednesday to raise the matter.
