Oxygen Cylinder Blast After Ambulance Fire on Delhi Flyover
A CAT ambulance from Safdarjung Hospital caught fire on the Moti Bagh flyover following a suspected short circuit, triggering an oxygen cylinder explosion. No injuries were reported.
A CAT ambulance attached to Safdarjung Hospital caught fire on the Moti Bagh Flyover on Thursday evening after a suspected short circuit, officials said.
The incident occurred around 7.20 pm when the ambulance was returning after dropping a patient at Samalkha.
According to officials, the fire led to the explosion of an oxygen cylinder kept inside the vehicle, intensifying the blaze and creating panic among commuters in the area.
A motorcycle parked nearby also caught fire due to the impact of the explosion and was completely damaged.
Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot, and firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after emergency response operations.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
Following the firefighting operation, the affected stretch of the flyover was cleared and reopened for normal traffic movement.
Police and fire department officials are investigating the exact cause of the fire, though preliminary information suggests an electrical short circuit may have triggered the incident.
