Mamata Says Trinamool Congress Will Rise Again After Setback
Following the All India Trinamool Congress suffering a major setback in the recent Assembly elections, party chief Mamata Banerjee called on leaders and workers to rebuild the organisation and remain united despite defections.
Mamata Banerjee on Friday urged leaders and workers of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) to rebuild the party organisation following its defeat in the recently concluded Assembly elections.
Speaking at a meeting with TMC candidates who contested the polls, held at her residence in Kalighat, Banerjee asserted that the party would recover from the setback and reorganise itself across the state.
The meeting was attended by the party’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee along with several candidates and senior leaders.

According to party sources, Mamata Banerjee told party workers not to worry about leaders leaving the organisation for other political parties and encouraged remaining cadres to strengthen the party structure at the grassroots level.
“Those who are leaving for other parties, let them go. I will rebuild the party afresh,” Banerjee was quoted as saying during the meeting.
She also instructed party workers to restore and reopen damaged party offices, saying that rebuilding organisational strength should begin immediately. Banerjee reportedly stated that she herself would participate in repainting and restoring party offices if required.
The TMC chief alleged that the people’s mandate had been “looted” in the elections but maintained that the party would continue its political struggle and would not bow down despite the defeat.
The remarks come at a crucial time for the Trinamool Congress as it attempts to regroup and prevent further defections following the electoral setback.
