Mamata Banerjee Receives Warm Welcome from Devotees at Kalighat
Former West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee visited Kolkata’s revered Kalighat Kali Temple on Thursday, where she offered prayers and interacted with devotees, days after a series of political developments within her party.
Mamata Banerjee visited the historic Kalighat Kali Temple on Thursday and offered prayers at one of the country’s most revered Hindu shrines.
The Trinamool Congress supremo arrived at the temple premises and patiently waited as devotees from various parts of India completed their darshan before proceeding with her own prayers.
During her visit, Banerjee was seen interacting warmly with devotees. A family of four from Karnataka greeted her with folded hands, to which she responded with a smile and a respectful gesture, drawing appreciation from those present at the temple.
The visit comes at a time when the All India Trinamool Congress is facing significant political challenges following its recent electoral setback in West Bengal and ongoing internal developments within the party.
Kalighat Temple, dedicated to Goddess Kali, is one of the most prominent pilgrimage destinations in eastern India and attracts thousands of devotees daily. The shrine holds deep spiritual significance and has often been visited by political leaders, public figures, and devotees from across the country.
Temple authorities and visitors reported that Banerjee’s visit proceeded peacefully, with devotees continuing their worship activities as usual.
While the visit was primarily religious in nature, it also drew attention because of the heightened political atmosphere in the state, where recent developments have kept Banerjee and the TMC at the center of public and political discussions.
The former chief minister has frequently visited religious and cultural institutions across West Bengal, emphasizing the state’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage.
