The public outreach initiative, introduced soon after he assumed office, is aimed at making the administration more accessible by providing people with a direct platform to communicate their grievances and seek government intervention.
The first Janata Darbar under Adhikari’s tenure was held on May 18, following his announcement that the programme would be conducted every week to strengthen the connection between the government and the public.
During Saturday’s session, a large number of people gathered to present their concerns before the Chief Minister. Among them were families of patients suffering from serious illnesses, health workers, and job seekers, many of whom narrated the hardships they had been facing.
Several attendees sought assistance related to medical treatment and financial support for healthcare needs, while others highlighted employment-related difficulties and administrative issues requiring urgent attention.
Officials present at the venue were directed by the Chief Minister to take immediate note of the complaints and initiate necessary action to ensure timely redressal.
Adhikari reiterated the importance of responsive governance and assured those present that genuine grievances would be addressed through appropriate administrative channels.
The Janata Darbar model has often been used by political leaders as a means of strengthening public engagement and demonstrating accountability by allowing citizens direct access to the highest levels of state leadership.
Supporters of the initiative view it as an effective mechanism for bridging the gap between the administration and the public, while also enabling the government to identify recurring issues requiring policy intervention.
